Human rights advocates and concerned individuals worldwide have spoken out on behalf of Asia Bibi, the 45-year-old Christian wife and mother who earlier this month became the first woman in Pakistan to be sentenced to death on blasphemy charges.
Bibi has been imprisoned since June 2009, after she was accused of allegedly insulting the Prophet Mohammed while attempting to share her faith with several Muslim co-workers, who had been pressuring Bibi for months to convert to Islam.

Aung San Suu Kyi, one of the most famous democratic leaders in modern history, was released from her seven-year house arrest in Burma on Saturday, November 13.

Christians and humanitarian advocates around the world have risen up in protest of the grisly murders that took place at Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad, Iraq on October 31.
Islamic gunmen, who took captive over 100 congregation members, invaded the church during the Sunday service. By the time Iraqi security forces ended the siege five hours later, 70 hostages and policemen had lost their lives in the violence.
