CFI Bible School In 2006 CFI began the construction of a Bible School, including dormitories , for Karenni refugee Christians from Burma.  The Karenni face enormous persecution in Burma.  This first of its kind campus is the answer to many years of prayer by persecuted Karenni Christians.  The school, located near a refugee camp outside Mae Hong Son, Thailand, focuses on training future pastors, teachers, leaders, and missionaries, and on providing marketable life skills.  Bible translation to local dialects, computer training, vocational training, English, math, and much more are currently being added to the program.  The goal of the Bible School is to be major theological training center for Southeast Asia.

In addition to Karenni students, recently, Thai, Shan, Karen, and Hmong students have enrolled in the Bible School making it an international Christian training center.

CFI Medic works inside Freedom Hospital.Saw Ba Blue is 32 years old.  He has a wife and three children.  As a persecuted Christian Karen living deep inside the jungles of Burma, he has to provide for his family any way he can.

Saw Ba Blue recently got very sick.  He could not work.  He thought he would die.  Naturally speaking, it was a devastating situation.  Here is Saw Ba Blue's letter.

Dear CFI,

Even though I was suffering from stomach pain for a long time, I had no chance, no money and no time to go to a clinic or hospital.  Unfortunately, this time I got very severe and painful stomach problem that I could not stay without care of it.

My wife and my friends sent me to CFI's Freedom Clinic and I was treated as an inpatient for fifteen days and I recovered.

Before I left the clinic, I fearfully asked the clinic cost.  I was very happy when I heard the words of the medic, 'no cost'.  I also have no money or things to give for the cost.

So, with happiness, I thank CFI very much for supporting the clinic at the village [place omitted for security reasons] and I also would like to say that this clinic is very helpful to the local people.

Sincerly,

Sa Ba Blue

CFI's "Freedom Hospital" program in the jungles of Burma is not only aiding Christians, but is a major outreach to Buddhists and animists.  They see the demonstration of the love of Christ through our hospitals and backpack medic teams

Burma Trip Report Print E-mail

Dear Friend,

Burma’s civil war has taken a toll on its citizens in many ways: it has destroyed communities, orphaned children, and bankrupted an entire nation, all in the name of the government’s ethnic cleansing campaign.

When the Burmese army recently launched a series of violent attacks along the country’s border, thousands of people in nearby villages fled for their lives into Thailand. The situation was so dangerous, in fact, that we were forced to cancel our annual CFI conference in Mae Sot. Nevertheless, we knew that we had to step in and assist these helpless refugees as much as we possibly could.

Two weeks ago, I traveled to Mae Sot, Thailand, to witness firsthand the effects of the Burmese army’s latest attempts to annihilate the Karen people. Within the ruined villages and crowded refugee camps, what I found was a mass of humanity weighed down with the burden of fear, pain, hardship and persecution.

What I also found, however, was a remarkable growth of Christianity among the refugees—and a resulting shortage of Bibles. I learned that many Christians had lost their copies during the recent attacks, and those who were new believers had simply never owned a Bible before.

During the 10-day trip, CFI provided medical assistance for those who were sick and injured. I also personally distributed scores of Bibles to refugees, who often waited patiently in long lines to receive their free copy and were overwhelmingly grateful for such a precious gift. Even as I prepared to leave the Burma/Thai border, CFI’s indigenous co-workers were also preparing to continue the mission of distributing God’s Word after I was gone.

President Jim Jacobson

Dear Friend of the Persecuted Church,

“…and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Let me get right to the point. I need your help to take God’s Word to “the end of the earth,” in Burma.

Right now I am in Burma leading a team that is delivering Bibles and aid to our persecuted Christian Karen brothers and sisters. Please pray for our safety and God’s blessing on this mission.

We are responding to an urgent need. On June 6, the Burmese army launched a major attack on Ler Per Her village, an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp of ethnic Karen villagers in the Pa’an district of Karen State in Burma.

The assault by the Burmese army continues – right now -- in other Karen villages.

As a result, more than 4,000 ethnic Karen villagers have fled into Thailand as Burmese troops shelled the camp causing one of the largest movements of refugees across the border into Thailand in more than a decade.
