Pakistani Christians Face Terror, Extortion
Christians in several neighborhoods in Karachi, Pakistan are facing a surge in persecution, where criminals are threatening to kidnap their family members if they fail to pay demanded extortion money. According to a CFI contact in Karachi, Pakistan, the criminals have also shot at the homes of those who have not paid the funds.
Local police are known to accept bribes from the extortionists that have been harassing these Christians; for that reason, many of these victims – even those who paid the extortion money – have been unable to file formal complaints with the authorities, out of fear of violent retaliation from the heavily armed criminals.
The situation has become so severe that many victims are seeking to move from these neighborhoods, but cannot because of financial difficulties.
CFI encourages everyone to keep this situation, and these persecuted believers, in prayer over the coming weeks. Please pray for the safety of these suffering Christians, and pray that their persecutors will soon be brought to justice.
Please help Christian’s living in this troubled country, here.
